These words of wisdom encapsulate the premise behind the establishment of DOF by an Executive Order signed by the President in January 2004. The new agency adheres to the principle that a "healthy dose of fear" is foundational to security; security, of course, lies at the root of our prosperity and the American Way of Life.

This blog is operated as a public service of USDOF. Its goal is to promote the the Agency's agenda and increase public awareness of DOF and its mission. DOF is an equal opportunity employer.

DOF supporter: Northrop Grumman

The international environment remains a dangerous place. Twelve nations now have nuclear weapons, and 28 nations have ballistic missiles that can be used as delivery systems for these armaments. Consequently, America must continue to rely on its land-based ICBMs, and therefore must keep upgrading them to maintain the advantage as technology of adversaries improves and poses increasing threats to the nation’s security.
